About this project

The problem we solve:
Patients suffer the indignity of outdated patient attire (a Johnny). Trying to tie it is impossible (backside thus exposed.) as is matching up the shoulder snaps. The Johnny provides no warmth, no comfort and certainly no style. The disposable varieties are made of something akin to cardboard that have even fewer redeeming characteristics. This patient garb does not facilitate care for those who provide patient care. Nurses, anesthesiologists, and doctors all hate Johnny’s along with the patients. They survive because no one has addressed the problem. 1. 21st century healthcare must embrace more than just treating disease, it must focus on global wellness, throughout the course of any medical intervention. 2. Wellness requires preservation of self-dignity and self-esteem for optimal healing. 3. The design of patient attire has not changed substantially in more than 50 years. As currently used, they neither provide for optimal safe patient care nor promote patient well-being.

About our solution:
The essential characteristics of optimal patient attire are: • Durable, easy care, reasonable cost • Comfortable, preserving self dignity, promoting self esteem • Supportive of patient safety in all realms of patient care • The Joy’Y (pronounced joy for women, Joey for men) and the ultra-special MamaJo’Y for maternity patients.
Progress to date: Join us in this important effort to revolutionize healthcare and make a big difference. Through complete redesign of patient attire, you can help say goodbye to the degrading Johnny and bring forth a 21st century solution through the design and implementation of the Jo’Y (pronounced Joy or Joey, your choice! Coming soon, also the Mama Jo’Y, a special boutique solution for hospital maternity wears.
